Picking A pediatrician

We've started the process of picking a pediatrician for our baby. The hospital wants parents to have a doctor selected when the baby is born. We went for our first interview with a doctor yesterday.

I could REALLY use some advice about what is important to moms when comes to finding a pediatrician. I know I need to find a Doctor that has flexible hours, because my hours aren't always predictable. But what else is important to parents? What do you like or don't like about your child's doctor? If you have a minute please drop me an email and let me know.

I'll update you on our progress next year! Happy holidays!

Thanks For The Emails

Thanks so much for responding to my name game dilemma. We still haven't picked a name for our baby girl yet. But, we have narrowed down the choices. I got several wonderful emails with some very beautiful suggestions. We're still not sure, so if you hear a name that you just love, I'd LOVE to hear it!

The Name Game

Have you ever given any thought to your name, how you got it and how your parents managed to settle on just the right one? Well, I have given a lot of thought to it lately.

There is only about 2 months until our baby girl arrives, and we still don't have a name!! We are narrowing it down. We started with about 30 names that I liked, my husband liked, or we liked together.

Many of the names didn't make the cut because they just didn't sound right with my husband's last name. So now we have narrowed our list to about 5. There are 2 that I just can't decide between.

How did you come up with your child's name? Did you know right away? Or did you have to see your baby first? I think picking a name is so exciting, but also intimidating.

Drop me an e-mail, I'd love to hear your stories of how you picked your child's name!

Thank you

Thanks so much to all of you who took time out of your busy schedules to email me your advice and ideas! I really appreciate all of your suggestions. Many of you are very creative and have some wonderful suggestions for our little girl's room! We have it all painted. Now the search begins for the crib bedding and accessories. I'll share some pictures when we are all finished!
We finally have most of her closet cleaned out. My husband's clothes have been evicted from her closet, that means he is moving into mine! That's okay, she's worth it. I hung on to some of my clothes far too long anyway!! Mom's tell me the more I do now the easier it will be when she comes and I'm still feeling pretty energetic so I have a list of things to do this week!
Thanks again for your emails.

Baby Class

Today was an exciting day! We went to our first "Baby Class." I haven't been around babies in a very long time. So, to say that I need all the help I can get is an understatement. In fact, when I hold a baby you can bet crying is coming next! I think they can sense my fear.
The class made it seem very real that soon there will be a little one in our lives. Exciting and very scary! They are so little but there is so much to learn. We learned the basics, feeding, sleeping, changing diapers. Our nurse had some very good suggestions for making the transition from hospital to home easier. I had to leave early for work but my husband stayed and took lots of notes!
What do you think was the hardest part about bringing your first baby home? I'd love to hear from you, drop me an e-mail.

Health issues

I am one of the lucky ones, I have had a wonderful pregnancy! I have enjoyed every minute of being pregnant. But, this week a health issue has come up. I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I'm sure some of you mom's have had to deal with this condition. Right now the doctor is trying to control it with diet. Hopefully, eating better and exercise will help me get through the next several months. I have to admit that it has been hard to give up the treats because I have such a sweet tooth!

My mom is dealing with a health issue of her own. The day we found out we were having a baby, my mom was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. It is cancer of the plasma cells. There is no cure, but there is treatment for the disease. She received a stem cell transplant this week but will be in the hospital for a while. Our baby will be my parent's first grandchild and they are thrilled. I think the baby is helping my mom do battle against this cancer. Hopefully, when the baby arrives my mom will be back to her old self.

Nursery

We are in the middle of cleaning out and sprucing up one of the guest rooms in our home. It will soon be home to our new little one! I have poured over nursery books and magazines looking for ideas. Dozens of paint samples covered our family room table for weeks as I tried to decide on just the right color. We have waited for a baby so long that I want it to be perfect for her arrival.
We've finally decide on the color scheme of pink and yellow. It will have green accents around the room. I'm sure many of you mom's would agree expecting your first child is both exciting and overwhelming. There is so much to do, but I keep reminding myself that the only thing she really needs is our love.
If any of you moms have any ideas on nurseries to share, I would LOVE to hear them. Please drop me a line.

where has the time gone

We are 28 weeks pregnant, where has the time gone? I can't believe I am entering my third trimester! The first 3 months seemed to stand still because we told very few people our exciting news. My husband and I have been married for 7 years. We have hoped and prayed for a baby for a long time so it was hard not to spread our news.

The middle trimester was so exciting! We found out we are having a little girl! It was filled with firsts. We saw a clear image of the baby for the first time, I felt her move for the first time, and we went baby furniture shopping.

Just this week my mom and I went shopping for baby things. Baby stores can be very overwhelming for first time moms! My mom was a big help. We registered for a few things that the little one will need when she arrives. But, there is a lot more we need to stock up on!

If any mom's have any items you can't live without, please drop me a line! I'd love to hear your advice!
