Tummy Trouble

I never realized how much I didn't know about babies until now. I didn't know that pulling their knees up means they had gas. Or that air in the bottle is a no no. Who knew that babies have different cries for different problems? It is amazing what a 6 pound little girl can teach her mom.
We are having a little bit of tummy trouble. Camille spent one night last week screaming, we've figured out that gas in her belly was the culprit. A couple of my friends who have been down the mommy road suggested some drops for her bottle. They apparently are doing the trick and I'm thankful, I just feel so bad when she cries.
Now, if we could just convince her to sleep through the night:) But, I will admit I am enjoying it all. Time is going so fast, I can't believe she will be a month old. And from what many of you have told me in emails the years go just as fast, so I'll hang on to every minute of Camille being a baby:)

A New Kind Of Love

I never could have imagined the kind of love I feel for my child. I've heard about it from my parents and my friends who have children but I guess I couldn't understand until I had one of my own.
She is amazing. We are so lucky, she is such a good baby:) My little one only cries when she is hungry. She doesn't even cry when her diaper needs to be changed! My mother thought for sure our baby would pay me back for what I put my parents through as a child. I'm told I cried all the time!
Little Camille has everyone in our family wrapped around her little finger:) She will definitely be a Daddy's Girl. He just adores her. Camille is the first grandchild for my parents and they are just thrilled. They came for a visit and I've never seen them so happy. It's amazing something so small can bring so much joy into so many lives:)

First Week Home

It is hard to believe that we have been home a week already:) I don't know where the time has gone.

Because the doctor put me in the hospital so early we were not prepared at home. The nursery still had gifts piled high that needed to be put away and put together. Luckily, my mom stayed with us for a few days so my husband and I were able to pick up the last minute things we needed for Camille.

She is so little that none of the clothes we had for her fit, so we had to make a quick stop at the store. That's when the hormones really kicked in! While we were shopping I couldn't find anything to fit her so I started to cry! I guess I'm not alone, moms tell me crying for no reason is very normal:)
That's okay, it's all worth it when I look at my beautiful baby girl:)

Heading Home

After nearly 2 weeks at Akron General Medical Center we are going home:) I'm feeling much better and can't wait to get our new baby to our house. I'm lucky that my mom and husband will be with me and Camille around the clock to help:) I still have several weeks off from work and I'm looking forward to spending lots of time with my daughter. She's sleeping in my arms right now as I type this:)

I can't thank the nurses and staff at the hospital enough, they were just fantastic. There are just too many to name and I don't want to forget anyone:) First, the nurses in the perinatal unit were just so kind. I was so nervous and they helped me every step of the way until we reached 37 weeks! Then on to labor and delivery. The nurses there are just special people :) I was so scared and hate needles. Before my husband was allowed in, Loretta held my hand, I'll bet she was sorry after I squeezed it so tight:) Then our final stop was in postpartum. The nurses and staff are very busy caring for new moms and their babies around the clock. Poor Angi, one of my nurses, saw me at my not so finest hour:) All the nurses and staff that we came in contact with always showed they cared. Finally, a big thank you to our doctor, Dr. Stewart. He was just fantastic. He did everything in his power to give our little one the healthiest start into the world. He truly made it a special delivery:)

And thanks to all of you, who have taken an interest in my pregnancy and delivery these last several months. Your emails, prayers and well wishes have been overwhelming.

She's Here !

At 7:52 on the morning of February first our little girl came into the world:) I can't believe after months of anticipation she's here and she is beautiful:) She weighs 5 pounds 11 ounces and is 18 inches long. I was so worried that she would have to spend time in the special care nursery, but she didn't. She spent the night in my room right next to us.

After months of deliberating she has a name:) Her name is Camille Carolyn. Her middle name is after my mother. And speaking of my mother, Camille is the best medicine she could get:) My parents are in love with their first grand baby. Camille already has my husband wrapped around her finger. We will be here at the hospital another few days, so I will keep you updated.

Watch newschannel 5 tonight at 5 and 6 to see pictures of Baby Camille. I will put some on the website shortly too.
